Does ingesting marijuana through food or drink affect your wisdom teeth like smoking does?

I am getting my wisdom teeth out and have been told I cannot smoke after the surgery for a little bit but I was wondering if ingesting marijuana through food would give dry socket uming I am able to chew food without irritating the scabs. Weed works better as a painkiller for me than pills do.
