What lead to the rise of Adolf Hitler?
What was stated above along with the somewhat draconian limits placed on Germany by the Allies at the end of the war led to the inevitable patriotic upswing and interest in a leader that would ".... restore Germanys pride and rightful place among the leading nations of the world". Bad economic times and feelings of xenophobia as well as big promises of hope and change by political figures tend to lead to dictatorships. Hitler promised hope for a brighter future and a greater Germany as well as a change from the old regime of the Weimar Republic under his party to a new bright horizon.... Sound familiar? The Nazis also committed mive voter fraud, and attempted to takeover the banks and major businesses through intimidation and 'new government legislation' as well as depriving the people of their guns and free speech. They were controlled through political correctness and fed a steady diet of propaganda through the government controlled news media. Sound like anyone we've elected in the U.S. lately?
