What was up with this situtation?

I was sitting in the gym waiting for the bell to ring and I had a new outfit and everyone said I looked very pretty. This kid was looking at me and smiling and talking to his friends and then walks up to me. He says "Are you psychic? Can you read my mind?" I ignored him but he kept asking me. I eventually became defensive and said "What is your problem with me?" He said nothing. Then his friend comes up and starts talking about the Chronicles of Narnia. He then asks about the cool key around my neck, if it opens another dimension like Chronicles of Narnia. After that, the kid for the last time asks if I can read his mind right this moment. I said no and he said you are cool and starts to walk away. He stops midway and smiles and says you really are cool though. Then a few minutes go by and he is still looking at me smiling with his friends. Then the bell rings and I leave. What was up with that? Was he flirting with me or making fun? He is a freshman and I'm a sophmore. Just wanna know
